One of Europe’s most notable ski resorts, Val d’Isre vaunts 337 km of groomed runs, ideal for ski holidays. Skiing starts in Nov and finishes in the start of May. Val d’Isere supplies everything for you. The village extends through the vale from La Daille up to Le Fornet with the apres ski in the centre of Val d’Isere itself. This bunch of pretty buildings contain chic boutiques most of which have appeared since the village was chosen for the winter olympics.
Split into 3 different areas Val d’Isre has enough ski able slopes for all levels. Val d’Isere has a fab historical snow record, the resort is massively popular among pro skiers and boarders and motorway skiing intermediates, however you don’t have to be particularly experienced to love what is there. One can easily see how come a lot of Brits are drawn to the mountain, with its crazy night-life and the choice of amusement on offer, furthermore the close proximity of Tignes allows you to venture out to less frantic climes if it all gets all too much.
Pros
A good nightlife in France. Everyone understands English. Comfortable approach to both Val d’Isre and Tignes known collectively as the the Espace Killy skiing area. There is a lot of traffic and whilst there are regular buses during the day, dedicated party animmals had better head to be within a short distance of the town.
Cons
Expensive. Busy and fashionable with English skiers, so not for holiday makers anticipating a classic French ski resort to relish a calming vacation. Many lifts can shut in inclement weather conditions. A few difficult blue and green runs.
